The short version
Make things you’d be proud to put your name on, be straight with your audience, and don’t put anyone at risk. Almost everything below follows from that.
1. Overview
These Community Guidelines set out what we expect from everyone who publishes, watches or participates on Playhuman. They apply to video, audio, images, text, live sessions, comments, profiles, storefronts and anything else that appears on the Services.
They sit alongside our Terms of Service. Where the Terms describe your legal relationship with us, these Guidelines describe the behaviour we hold the community to day to day.
2. Core principles
Four principles sit behind every moderation decision we make. When a situation is not covered explicitly below, we fall back to these.
Authenticity
Be genuine in your content and interactions. Authenticity is what builds trust with an audience.
Respect
Treat every community member with respect. Diverse perspectives make the platform stronger.
Safety
Help keep the environment safe. Report harmful content and protect the people around you.
Fairness
Play by the rules. Don’t manipulate engagement or misrepresent what your content is.
3. What we expect
Do
- Create original content, or properly credit your sources
- Engage authentically with your audience
- Clearly disclose sponsored content and partnerships
- Respect intellectual property rights
- Apply an accurate age rating to everything you publish
- Foster inclusive and welcoming communities
- Report violations when you see them
- Protect the privacy of the people in your content
Don’t
- Post harmful, hateful or discriminatory content
- Share misleading or false information
- Engage in harassment or bullying
- Use bots or fake engagement tactics
- Violate copyright or trademark rights
- Publish explicit content without the correct rating
- Spam or use deceptive practices
- Collect user data without consent
4. Content ratings
Every upload carries a rating. Choosing accurately protects both your audience and your reach. Under-rating content is treated as a guideline violation.
- GeneralAll ages
- Suitable for every audience, including children. No violence, strong language or mature themes.
- Teen13+
- Mild themes appropriate for teenagers. May include mild language or action sequences.
- Mature18+
- Adult themes, strong language, violence or adult discussion. Restricted to adult accounts.
- Restricted18+
- Explicit material. Access is limited and subject to additional platform rules and distribution limits.
5. Prohibited content
The following is not permitted at any rating level, and is removed on discovery:
- content that sexualises minors, in any form, real or generated;
- credible threats of violence, or the incitement or glorification of it;
- hate speech targeting protected characteristics;
- content promoting self-harm, suicide or disordered eating;
- the sale of regulated or illegal goods and services;
- doxxing, or publishing someone's private information without consent;
- non-consensual intimate imagery;
- coordinated deception, impersonation and manipulated media presented as real.
Talking about your own experiences with mental health, recovery or self-harm is allowed and always has been. What is not allowed is content that glorifies, promotes or encourages self-harm to other people.
We report illegal content, including child sexual abuse material, to the relevant authorities as required by law.
6. Enforcement and appeals
We use a combination of automated detection, community reports and human review. Enforcement is proportionate: most first-time issues result in removal and an explanation rather than a penalty.
- Removal
- The content comes down and you are told which guideline it breached.
- Warning
- A strike is recorded on the account and remains visible in your dashboard.
- Suspension
- Publishing, monetisation or both are paused while the account is reviewed.
- Termination
- Reserved for severe or repeated violations, and for illegal activity.
Every decision can be appealed from your account settings. Appeals are handled by someone other than the original reviewer, and are usually resolved within 48 hours.
7. Reporting a problem
Use the report control on any content or profile to flag a violation. Reports are confidential. The person you report is not told who filed it.
For copyright issues, file a claim through our Copyright & DMCA process instead. For urgent safety concerns, see the Safety centre.
